IN AWE

I visited the ISKCON temple at Juhu, Mumbai in April 2007 and my jaw dropped on seeing the beautiful temple ambience and the Deities. After seeing Sri Rama, Laksmana, Sita, and Hanuman ji, Radha Krsna and Gaur-Nitai under one roof it was like witnessing Treta, Dvapara, and Kali yuga all at same time. I felt very happy being in Mumbai and subscribed to Back To Godhead. I enjoyed reading the August issue so much that I read the magazine five times cover to cover. The best part was Ben's article (how I came to Krsna consciousness). Wishing you all a happy festival season,

TRANSCENDENTAL BROADCAST
More than the human race, Lord Krsna, the God of Gods Himself might have enjoyed the television interview with His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. (Transcendental Broadcast, BTG July 07). The answers given by Swami Prabhupada should have thrilled the hearts of Krsna devotees. Well, once the inquiSit ive teenaged flowering youths, men, and women hear about the enchanting stories of the blue-cloud-coloured, innocent lad of Vrndavana and His playmates cowherd boys and girls, who will not be inquisitive to know more about Him? Taste God's nectar once and you become His devotee for ever thereafter!

CHANTING
Please help me so that I can concentrate more on Krsna while chanting. (Kaushik)

Our Reply: Srila Prabhupada said that ninety nine percent of our progress depends on chanting. So we should focus on hearing clearly each and every name. Along with a proper technique the mood of humility and service attitude is required. Srila Prabhupada said that one should chant like a baby crying for his mother. That should be the intensity and desperation of chanting.

We should also avoid the offenses associated with chanting. Srila Prabhupada writes in Srimad Bhagavatam 1.18.19 purport: "To chant the holy name under the direction of a pure devotee is offenseless chanting. Offenseless ch anting of the holy name of the Lord is transcendental, and, therefore, such chanting can at once purify one from the effects of all kinds of previous sins. This offenseless chanting indicates that one has fully understood the transcendental nature of the holy name and has thus surrendered unto the Lord. Transcendentally the holy name of the Lord and the Lord Himself are identical. being absolute." If we chant sincerely the holy name will automatically help us focus on Lord Krsna.
