ISKCON’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations
After a worldwide search, the Executive Committee for ISKCON’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations has appointed Romapada Dasa as its International Coordinator. Romapada joined ISKCON in 1985, and has served with ISKCON temples in Mumbai and London. He has previously helped to organize celebrations for ISKCON’s 25th anniversary in 1991.
“I was very happy to be engaged in this service, and to work with devotees again whom I worked with during the 25th anniversary,” Romapada says.
First Ever ISKCON Program Held in Ranchi
Ranchi, Jharkhand: On February 9, devotees from ISKCON Patna held the first ever program in Ranchi, the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand. The program’s purpose was to provide a basic understanding about the goals of ISKCON, about the Bhagavad-gita, and Srila Prabhupada’s contribution to humanity. The program also had other usual Krishna conscious attractions, such as a Mantra Rock Show and prasada.
ISKCON Kathmandu stood No. 3 in the World
Kathmandu, Nepal: For the first time, ISKCON Kathmandu stood No. 3 in book distribution all over world for the month of January. It scored 14,356 book points.
“Garbhadhana-samskara” Book Released
Gabhadhana-samskara, the first and most important of all the purificatory processes in the tradition of sanatana-dharma is yet either less prevalent today or almost extinct. Such a sacred practice remains obscure, less propagated and even less understood.
The new publication titled, Garbhadhanasamskara: The Science of Vedic Family Planning, is an attempt to fill this gap.
Sri Lankan Government Awards Honorary Degree to ISKCON Devotees
Colombo, Sri Lanka: On February 20, the National Peace Association of Sri Lanka awarded honorary degrees to Vasudeva Datta Dasa and Caitanya Tirtha Dasa. They were acknowledged for their continual dedicated service of spreading sanatana-dharma and human values in Sri Lanka.
Kirtan-mela in Moscow Inspires Two Thousand
Moscow, Russia: Moscow’s first ever kirtana-mela, which ran from January 30 to February 1, drew nearly 2,000 devotees from around Russia. On EkadaSi night, the kirtana continued non-stop till the next morning.
